About

This collection of lists, articles and links is intended to deal with emergencies of a certain kind–mainly, those of a lesser intensity than, say, being on fire or finding one’s car hanging off the edge of a cliff sans ropes or stunt doubles. [Those situations are best dealt with by books such as The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook (in original or extreme flavors), or by choosing occupations other than that which involve spontaneous combustion or taking a dry dive off a cliff…or by simply avoiding strong intoxicants and then getting “brilliant” ideas.]

My aim here is to help solve these small-to-medium emergencies so you have the time and energy to handle the big ones when they come. I’ll make the suggestions, list the links, and review the products, but it’s going to be up to you to figure out if they’re the right fix for you. Just count me as the first step to taking the crisis by the b… uh, hands, and showing it who’s boss. Lastly, as I’ve realized I’ve been waxing verbose, I further will seek to ease that feeling of impending doom by finding stuff that is free (or cheap). Bad enough to be stressing about ______ (insert stressor of choice) without having to stress about finances additionally.

Great blog! Suggestion for the next “emergency”: how to NOT stab your ohmigodkillmenow what-the-#*&! incredibly annoying classmate who wastes valuable class time with inane stories and shrieks and brays in satanic laughter?!? I’m too pretty to go to jail, so anything to suppress homicidal tendencies would be welcome. 🙂
